Winter Storms Envelop Colorado Ski Country

Denver, Colo. – December 17, 2012 – Impressive weekend snowfall accumulated throughout the state, giving Colorado Ski Country resorts plenty of fresh powder with which to greet eager skiers and snowboarders. After the previous weeks’ storm, and with yet another one anticipated later during this week, winter is now laying out desirable conditions in full force.

Every resort in Colorado Ski Country received fresh snow over the weekend. Colorado’s Southwest resorts benefitted from some of the top accumulation totals the state has seen so far this season. Wolf Creek amassed 30 inches, Purgatory received 20 inches, Silverton 14 inches, and Telluride rounded out the corner of the state with more than half a foot.

The storm covered the Western Slope and surrounding resorts, leaving a foot of snow at Powderhorn, 10 inches at Sunlight, several inches at each of the four Aspen resorts, eight inches at Howelsen and 13 inches at Steamboat.

The state’s central Rockies also felt the effects of the storm, as Monarch Mountain saw 17 inches and Crested Butte received eight inches. Due to the improved conditions, Ski Cooper is now preparing to open on Friday, December 21.

Moving further north, Copper Mountain had half a foot fall, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin were each given five inches, Eldora received four inches, while in Grand County, Winter Park gathered 10 inches and Ski Granby Ranch saw four.
