2014 Ski Expo
The 23d annual Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo returns to the Colorado Convention Center in Denver for 3 days
November 7-9, 2014
Discounts from 40-75 percent off last season’s equipment, clothing and accessories are the big draw but between the beer garden and kid-centric activities, there is a plenty of diversion and shopping for everyone.
Several new attractions debut this year. A Nordic Village Interactive Zone will introduce novices to three Nordic sports—cross-country skiing, ski jumping and snowshoeing. The U.S. Paralympic Ski Team gets the spotlight with guest appearances, athlete presentations, videos and an exhibit of the adaptive equipment used by team members. Ski racing fans can visit the 2015 Alpine World Championships Pavilion with interactive displays, information and merchandise sales. Copper Mountain’s Camp Woodward will feature a mini-ramp skate park for kids visiting Expo that want a taste of the programs that Camp Woodward offers. And Crested Butte Resort is bringing a mechanical bull for some cowboy-esque challenge.
The Mountain Activity Center is anchored by the Slackline and includes performances by pros and a demo area for novices. The fast-paced Eliteam Training Center offers a timed obstacle course that measures basic fitness and flexibility skills while first-time skiers can slide down the artificial surface of Winter Park Kid’s Slope. Burton’s Riglet Park offers little ones an easy gliding introduction to snowboarding. The high-flying flips and stunts performed by Skyriders! in their double trampoline exhibition is a perennial favorite.
Admission is $15 for adults or $12 with a discount coupon available in The Denver Post or at any Colorado Ski & Golf or Colorado Ski & Sports store. Discount tickets can also be purchased in advance at www.skisnowexpo.com. Kids 12 and under are free.
